The wet season in Cairns has officially arrived, with rain pouring day and night and the tropical climate filling the air with a humid mist. However, this rainy weather hasn’t dampened our passion for nature and our desire to explore! Thinking about how the rainy season would make the waterfall even more magnificent, we immediately grabbed our cameras and drone, eagerly heading to one of Cairns' most iconic landmarks—Barron Falls.
The Charm of Barron Falls: A Majestic Wet Season Spectacle
Previously, we introduced how you can take the Kuranda Scenic Railway, get off at Barron Gorge National Park, and enjoy the breathtaking view of Barron Falls from the train's viewing platform. But this time, we want to share the experience of a self-drive adventure, allowing you to explore the waterfall from the best angles and witness its most awe-inspiring views!
Self-Drive Guide: Finding the Best View of Barron Falls
If you choose to drive, you can start from the Kuranda Range Road and head towards Barron Falls Lookout. Once you arrive, don’t just stay on the lookout near the parking lot! Follow the wooden ramp and continue downhill, walking through a rainforest trail lined with tropical plants. After about 1 kilometer, you’ll reach the scenic railway viewing platform. Here, not only can you get a closer look at the majestic Barron Falls, but you might also catch a glimpse of the train passing by below—a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts!
Barron Falls in the Wet Season: The Raw Power of Nature
During our visit, we specifically chose the peak of the wet season when the waterfall is at its fullest. Barron Falls was roaring with power, its waters cascading down like a stampede of horses, violently crashing against the rocks. The mist rising from the waterfall as it plunged into the gorge created a veil of fog, making the scene alternately clear and hazy—so beautiful it took our breath away. Standing on the viewing platform, we not only witnessed this magnificent sight but also listened to the thunderous roar of the waterfall. The sheer force of nature was truly unforgettable.

Travel Tip: The wet season in Cairns runs from November to April. During this time, trails can be slippery, so wear sturdy, non-slip shoes and bring rain gear. Also, make sure to protect your camera equipment from the mist!

之前我們曾介紹過，可以搭乘庫蘭達觀光列車，在巴倫峽谷國家公園（Barron Gorge National Park）下車，從列車的觀景平台上欣賞巴倫瀑布的壯麗景色。但這次，我想和大家分享的是自駕遊的體驗，讓你能更靈活地選擇觀景角度，感受最震撼的瀑布景象！
自駕路線指南：探索巴倫瀑布的最佳視角
如果你選擇自駕，可以從庫蘭達山路（Kuranda Range)出發，朝著Barron Falls Lookout的方向行駛。抵達後，千萬別只停留在靠近停車場的眺望台！沿著木製的斜坡棧道繼續往下走，穿過兩側佈滿熱帶植物的雨林步道，大約走1公里，就能抵達觀光列車的觀景平台。這裡不僅能讓你更近距離地欣賞巴倫瀑布的壯麗景色，還有機會看到列車從步道下緩緩駛過的畫面，絕對是攝影愛好者的絕佳取景點！
